The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a flagship rooftop solar initiative launched by the Government of India in 2024 to promote clean, affordable energy for households across the country. Under this scheme, eligible homes can install rooftop solar panels and receive up to 300 units of free electricity every month, helping reduce dependence on grid power and slash electricity bills.
The government has set a target of enabling 1 crore households to adopt solar energy by FY 2026–27.
